I have started two new blogs, one to follow my running and a Quest to a Marathon at blog.262quest.com and one to follow my weight loss at blog.2big.org, please check them out.
I am an IT professional / Developer which means I sit in front of a computer most of the day. This means very little exercise and plenty of time to eat.

Surprised not to see you as part of it anyway.
Hope running is going well

Just wanted to check in and say hello. I haven't given up. Still plugging along. Just trying to keep focused and positive. Starting to make some good choices in the types of food I eat and hopefully it will have a big impact on the scale over these next few months.
I've been following your half marathon blog and you are awesome!!! It's no wonder that you are inspiring so many people to raise their game!!
Your compassion and passion to see others succeed is a real breath of fresh air and its amazing to see your transformation. The change in you as I have observed is phenomenal and it really motivates me!!
What a guy!!
Whoooooo Hooooooo!!!!

My endurance has always been good but my speed has always been very slow. I'm going to start working on that. I want to be mid-pack in the triathlon in October. That's my goal!

Did you seriously lose another 2 lbs? Rock on, Tim!!!
Thanks for the kind comments. It has been interesting doing this in the mission field. The challenge is the lack of gyms, etc that are available all over in the states. The big plus side has been all the fresh veggies, fruit, etc at a great price which makes eating healthy pretty easy.
The thing that amazes me about the body change is that shirts hang straight down now. Still kinda surprises me!

Check them out and let me know what you think. The first post is big on both of them because it is a bit of background information. The subsequent posts will be somewhat smaller.... well, you guys know me..... hopefully they will stay a bit smaller. :)
Check em out, let your friends know, link to me, subscribe, leave feedback, stumble me, del.icio.us me, etc. All would be appreciated!

I was hesitant to put it up there. I think it makes me look funny, but I guess that is true with everybody, they always hate pics of themselves. If you open it bigger you can tell I am working hard and hurting. It was in the last .1 of the 5k race where I ran this past weekend for my PR. I was pushing hard, and feeling it, but of course that is what you are supposed to do in races.... you shouldn't look like you aren't working.... especially in the last stretch of a race. :)
You're right about the weight loss. Everything is going in the right direction for you and things are looking good. It would be a shame to rush the last bit and undo that hard won new physique you have.
Yep 7:30 - 8:00 miles is where I want to be and you're already there, NICE!!
24:26.4
I like those other 4 seconds! That put me only 11 seconds behind the 3rd place person in my age group!
I ran another PR today and finished in 24:30 (give or take a couple seconds) I ran splits of:
Mile 1: 7:32
Mile 2: 8:11
Mile 3: 7:59
.1: 0:48
I was very pleased with it overall. I know the new PR's at every race are going to stop soon enough though.
I finished 4th in my age group - arggghhhh! Only 15 sec behind the 3rd place.
Good work on the running times!! You really are picking up momentum and inspiring us fellow traineo's. Thats awesome!!
My ankle is gradually picking up and I'm getting back into my stride. I did suffer with a bit of illness over the festive season, though I think I was just surrounded by ill people. In the end it just came to be my turn I think. How is your goal to get down to 160? I have to be honest I'm doing much better than I expected I would and I'm already down to 170!! This will get my running times improving.
Keep me posted on your progress Tim and hopefully our little running competition that Glovia is organising will be quite close.
Keep up the Intensity

Yes, the second one is mine :) Quotes have to start somewhere :)
Thanks so much! I can't wait to try it out! I registered for fileNanny.com so I just have to start practicing huh! lol
Thanks again!
What I would do it register, then if I got an e-mail saying not activity I would access the pics to give myself an extra 180 days. I personally think it is good to make sure the pics stay active if you are posting them to a forum. Many forum postings are not accessed frequently, but are accessed months down the road, and it can be frustrating to find that the images are no longer working if you are the ones trying to access them.
This would be a nice feature for Traineo to add, so they can make sure their images are always available.... kinda like the profile pics that they host.
To post a picture you first have to host the pictures somewhere. I have my own hosting so that is what I use. I have found a place that will let you host pictures for free that I have had my kids use for a while. That place is: http://www.filenanny.com
Go to that website and then you can upload your pictures by clicking on the button on the right hand side that says "Don't want to register? Click here for
unregistered uploading!" Once you click there you will be able to browse to pick your pictures (make sure you use unique filenames) Once you are done browsing to your pictures click the upload button. You will be given different things to use - you will copy the first one which is the direct URL.
Next, when you are posting something, when you get to the point you want to post a picture, you will click the button just above where you are typing that have the three colored shapes. Paste the url in that you got on the previous step and then keep typing - you are all set.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Tim
(one I just did there)
Could you tell me how to post pictures into the forums?
Thanks and CONGRATS on the 1/2 Marathon! I used to LOVE to run when I was in high school and then my doctor told me that I could walk or run, my choice, if I kept running walking was going to get harder for me eventually, so I quit track and just did it every now and then and have essentially quit it all together now because my knees are a lot worse but oh I miss it!
Glad to hear it is a great passion for you as well! Keep up the good work!
April
Have a wonderful Christmas and New Years!
Failure is not falling down but refusing to get up.
Congrats!
But..... I have ran my very first Half Marathon!!!! It wasn't an official race, but just in my training - but I am still pumped! I ran it in 2:07.
What a great birthday and Christmas gift I have given myself!!! One day before my 38th birthday, and just a couple days before Christmas, I can say that I have officially run a Half Marathon!
WHOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I liked the nicey nicey one in front of the Christmas tree :) haha
Happy Christmas!!!
It is funny you said that because I was thinking the same thing. While you posted here I was typing up a bit about my past years journey and posted it here.
http://www.traineo.com/14_4368_0.html
I was typing all this thinking - I should do a blog..... Then I come and read this and you tell me I should too...... hmmm, someone is trying to tell me something. I do have some time off for Christmas, maybe I will put one together, it could be very fun to boot!
I know I am being aggressive, and if I don't make it I won't be upset since it will be my first. I just need to have some kind of goal is all.
Good luck with the tri, it is coming up soon isn't it?
Finishing your first half is a great goal but its good to have that other goal of Sub2 at the back of your mind. I will be following your progress. You should have a blog. It would be an inspiration to others.
Good luck with the rest of your training.
Keep on running!
My 'short distance' goal is sub 25min 5K which is about this pace but I haven't been able to do that yet :(
Great race - You are going to be so ready for the Half Marathon - are you setting yourself a goal time?
Keep on running
Mike
Well, today was an excellent day for me, very happy with the outcome.
I started with a weight that finally dropped below 180 - I was 179.8 this morning, this is the first time I have seen something below the 180's in well over 13 years.
The next good thing that happened was I went out and ran a race (The Santa Stroll 8k) with my neighbors. I have been running 5 miles two times a week, then my long run of 5 - 10 miles so I knew I was ready for this. I decided I wanted a time of at least 45 minutes, and was confident I could do it since I ran one 5 mile run earlier this week at 46 minutes. Well, I blew that out of the water, I finished in 40:09!!!!! I was shocked, and I really wanted to turn it on enough to get past the finish before 40:00 but I just had nothing left..... nothing! I was breathing so heavy and my legs were so heavy I wanted to give up with about 1/2 mile to go. I even took one walking step about that time and then kept running despite the exhaustion. I DID IT!! And I almost beat my neighbors.... ALMOST!
I am so excited about the race today.... other than the sweatshirts they gave us - sorry but they are hideous!
And may I wish you continued success for 2008.
CONGRATS ON THOSE PULL-UPS TOO! Good stuff.
Keep up the great work.

The weight is not coming off like it used too, but I still feel like my body is constantly adjusting every day in the right way. I am wearing slender cut 34 inch jeans and they are comfortable and I am not getting a muffin top :). I also tried on my brother in laws 32 inch jeans over the holidays and they fit comfortably. They were cut kinda big, but I will take encouragement any way I can get it. I also went out to buy some pants to run in, and the size that I ended up getting was medium. Yes, I am loving it, now if I can just get motivated to push through this plateau and get the last 15 - 20 off and I will be happier.
I am training for my first half marathon in Feb 08. Today was my longest run I have ever run. To you marathoners this is nothing, but to me it was awesome. I ran 8 miles this morning. Cold morning too, at just 33 degrees when I took off.

I have been out of it for the last couple days, and will probably be out of it for a couple more. I have a really close friend, one of my closest, killed in a car accident on Saturday. The stress, and depression that went with that caused me to kinda give up over the rest of the weekend and I overdid it quite a bit and didn't get my run in this weekend. I also have got a crazy schedule over the next couple days and needed to get to work really early to get some things taken care of before leaving for the funeral. That being the case I didn't get to the gym this morning and will probably not get my run in in the morning because of being in a hotel with unfamiliar surroundings... not to mention just not feeling like doing anything.
I am sure I will be able to get back to it in a couple days, it is just going to be a rough week I am sure.
I have still been doing pretty good with eating and running/working out, and logging on traineo, just not in the forums etc.
Tim
I am SO EXCITED that you are running so well again! I know EXACTLY how you feel! I'm sure you're going to have no problem running a HM in February. The one I want to do is in May, so I have a little more prep time than you do. Puts my training smack in the middle of yucky winter though. You're probably going
